Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lumpi-ProVacInd is a live-attenuated homologous vaccine developed by Indian Immunologicals (IIL) in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) - National Research Centre on Equines (NRCE) and the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI). It is specifically designed for the prevention of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in cattle. The vaccine utilizes a weakened 'Ranchi' strain of the Lumpy Skin Disease Virus (LSDV) to stimulate a robust and protective immune response. Unlike heterologous goat pox vaccines previously used as an interim measure, Lumpi-ProVacInd provides homologous protection, which is considered superior for controlling LSD outbreaks. It is administered via subcutaneous injection and has been commercially launched to address the significant economic impact of LSD on the livestock and dairy industries.
