Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LUMRYZ (sodium oxybate) is an extended-release oral suspension developed by Avadel Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of sleep disorders. As a GABAB receptor agonist and central nervous system depressant, it is designed to provide a full night's therapeutic effect with a single bedtime dose, distinguishing it from immediate-release oxybate products that require a second middle-of-the-night dose. While currently FDA-approved for excessive daytime sleepiness and cataplexy in adults with narcolepsy, LUMRYZ is being evaluated in the Phase 3 REVITALYZ trial for idiopathic hypersomnia, a condition characterized by chronic excessive daytime sleepiness despite long or normal sleep times.
