Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NPC-01 (Lunalbell ULD) is an ultra-low-dose oral combination drug containing 1 mg of norethisterone and 0.02 mg of ethinyl estradiol. Developed by Nobelpharma, it is specifically indicated for the treatment of dysmenorrhea associated with endometriosis or functional dysmenorrhea. As a combination hormonal contraceptive, it works by binding to and activating progesterone and estrogen receptors, which leads to the suppression of gonadotropins (FSH and LH), inhibition of ovulation, and alteration of the endometrium to reduce menstrual pain and volume. Clinical studies have shown that this ultra-low-dose formulation provides efficacy in pain relief comparable to standard low-dose formulations while minimizing estrogen-related side effects.
