LUNAR-HBV is a combination RNA therapeutic developed for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. It comprises a combination of three UNA (Unlocked Nucleomonomer Agent) oligomers, designed to target all HBV transcripts and cover all major viral genotypes[1][9][10]. These UNA oligomers act as small interfering RNAs (siRNAs), delivered via the LUNAR nanoparticle platform, a novel biodegradable lipid-enabled delivery system[1][10]. This approach inhibits HBV gene expression by RNA interference, aiming to suppress viral replication and reduce HBV antigens, with the potential to minimize viral resistance by targeting multiple viral sequences[1][10]. The technology was developed by Arcturus Therapeutics, in collaboration with Janssen Pharmaceuticals[1][10].
