Overview

LuoBiTong (LBT) is a traditional Chinese medicine formulation currently in Phase III clinical trials for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. It is available as both tablets and capsules. LBT has demonstrated efficacy and safety in preclinical and early clinical studies for rheumatoid arthritis, particularly when used in combination with methotrexate. Mechanistically, LuoBiTong acts via multiple inflammatory pathways including regulation of macrophage polarization, inhibition of NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways, and suppression of TH-17 expression in proinflammatory cells. These multi-pathway effects are believed to underlie its therapeutic benefit in autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis[7].
