Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Luobuma is a traditional Chinese medicinal herb derived from the leaves of *Apocynum venetum* L. It is primarily utilized in East Asia for the management of hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and neurasthenia. The therapeutic effects are attributed to its high concentration of flavonoids, including quercetin, rutin, and hyperoside. Mechanistically, Luobuma exerts antihypertensive effects through vasodilation, potentially mediated by the nitric oxide-cGMP pathway and the inhibition of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE). It also exhibits sedative and anxiolytic properties, likely through the modulation of the GABAergic system. Additionally, its antioxidant and diuretic properties contribute to its cardiovascular profile.
