Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Luoheng Formula is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) decoction developed by Dongzhimen Hospital of the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, specifically designed for the treatment of unstable angina pectoris (UAP) and coronary heart disease. It is formulated based on the TCM principle of resolving phlegm and removing blood stasis, a common syndrome in cardiovascular patients. The formula typically comprises a combination of medicinal herbs, including *Trichosanthes kirilowii*, *Allium macrostemon*, *Pinellia ternata*, *Salvia miltiorrhiza*, *Panax notoginseng*, *Pueraria lobata*, and *Hirudo*. Mechanistically, Luoheng Formula has been shown to exert anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting the TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB signaling pathway, thereby reducing the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-6. Clinical studies suggest it helps in stabilizing atherosclerotic plaques, improving vascular endothelial function, and alleviating clinical symptoms of angina.
