lusvertikimab

Lusvertikimab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that acts as a pure antagonist of the interleukin 7 receptor alpha chain (CD127), which is the alpha subunit of the IL-7 receptor. By selectively blocking IL-7R, lusvertikimab inhibits pathogenic effector and memory T lymphocytes while sparing regulatory T cells, thus downregulating immune activity implicated in autoimmune diseases. This mechanism allows for potent inhibition of inflammatory responses without affecting protective pathways mediated by thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP). Lusvertikimab has demonstrated statistically significant efficacy and a favorable safety profile in Phase 2 clinical trials for moderate to severe ulcerative colitis, with additional potential applications in other chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The drug was originally developed by Effimune and further developed by OSE Immunotherapeutics, with Servier also involved as a developer[1][2][3][4][5][6][8].
