Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lutein + meso-zeaxanthin + zeaxanthin is a combination dietary supplement containing three carotenoids that are the primary pigments found in the macular region of the human retina. These compounds act as potent antioxidants and blue light filters, protecting retinal cells from oxidative stress and photo-damage. The combination is specifically formulated to support eye health, enhance visual performance (including contrast sensitivity and glare recovery), augment macular pigment density, and reduce risk or progression of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Meso-zeaxanthin is considered especially important for central macula protection but is not commonly present in most diets; supplementation ensures all three carotenoids are available for optimal retinal function[1][2][5]. Clinical trials have shown that this triple-carotenoid formulation improves visual function more effectively than lutein or zeaxanthin alone[2].
