Overview
Lutetium (177Lu) oxodotreotide + octreotide is a combination therapy comprising a radiolabeled somatostatin analogue (lutetium (177Lu) oxodotreotide, also known as lutetium Lu 177 dotatate, a peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT)) and the somatostatin analogue octreotide. Lutetium (177Lu) oxodotreotide selectively binds to somatostatin receptor–positive (SSTR+) tumor cells, delivering targeted radiation. Octreotide is concurrently administered (typically in its long-acting release/LAR formulation) to control hormone-related tumor symptoms and maintain SSTR expression, and to support safety and efficacy during sequential cycles of PRRT. The primary indication for the combination is the treatment of unresectable or metastatic, progressive, well-differentiated, SSTR-positive gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs), particularly in adults. This combination, recently studied and approved for earlier-line use (NETTER-2), demonstrated significant improvement in progression-free survival compared to octreotide alone[3][7].
