Lutetium-177 anti-CD44 is a targeted radiopharmaceutical consisting of a monoclonal antibody directed against the CD44 antigen, conjugated to the beta-emitting radioisotope lutetium-177. CD44 is a cell-surface glycoprotein involved in cell-cell interactions, cell adhesion, and migration, and is frequently overexpressed in various cancers, including breast cancer and cancer stem cells. By binding to CD44-expressing tumor cells, the agent delivers localized ionizing radiation, leading to DNA damage and cell death. Preclinical studies have evaluated its biodistribution and tumor-targeting efficiency in models of mammary gland adenocarcinoma, demonstrating preferential uptake and clearance patterns suitable for therapeutic optimization.
