Lutetium Lu-177 HTK03170 is a novel PSMA-targeting radioligand therapy developed for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). It functions as a PSMA inhibitor that delivers targeted beta radiation therapy to PSMA-positive prostate cancer cells. The drug was specifically designed to improve tumor specificity and minimize off-target toxicity compared to existing PSMA radiopharmaceutical therapies. Lutetium-177 delivers its therapeutic effect through the emission of beta particles (β–) that penetrate surrounding tissues over approximately 2 mm, effectively targeting micrometastases while sparing nearby healthy tissues. The dual emission of low-energy gamma rays also allows for post-treatment imaging to monitor therapy efficacy.
