Overview

Lutikizumab is an investigational dual-variable-domain monoclonal antibody that targets and neutralizes both interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1α) and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), key cytokines involved in inflammatory processes. By binding to IL-1α and IL-1β, lutikizumab inhibits their activity, thereby reducing inflammation, pain, tissue destruction, and structural progression in diseases where these cytokines are upregulated[1][6]. It is being developed primarily by AbbVie for the treatment of several inflammatory conditions including hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), atopic dermatitis (AD), ulcerative colitis (UC), Crohn’s disease (CD), and has previously been studied in osteoarthritis[3][4][5][6][7]. Lutikizumab has shown positive results in phase 2 trials for moderate to severe HS and is advancing to phase 3 trials; it is also under investigation for other immune-mediated diseases[3][7].
