Overview
Lutong (路路通), also known as Sweetgum Fruit or Fructus Liquidambaris, is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herb derived from the dried fruit of *Liquidambar formosana Hance*. In TCM, it is characterized by a bitter taste and neutral nature, and is believed to act on the Liver, Kidney, and Stomach meridians. Its traditional functions include dispelling wind, invigorating collaterals, promoting urination, unblocking channels, and promoting the movement of Qi and Blood. It is commonly used in TCM formulations to address conditions such as chronic heart failure, cardiovascular issues, menstrual irregularities, pain due to blood stagnation, oedema, and arthralgia.
