Overview
This drug is a **combination therapy** composed of **luxdegalutamide**, a next-generation androgen receptor (AR) inhibitor, and **lutetium (177Lu) vipivotide tetraxetan (Pluvicto, 177Lu-PSMA-617)**, a radiopharmaceutical targeted against prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA). Lutetium (177Lu) vipivotide tetraxetan selectively binds to PSMA-expressing cells and delivers beta radiation via the lutetium-177 isotope, leading to DNA damage and cell death in PSMA-positive cancer cells[1][2][3][4][5]. Luxdegalutamide inhibits androgen receptor signaling, depriving prostate cancer cells of growth signals. This combination is under investigation for synergistic antitumor effects in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) with high PSMA expression, with each component acting via different but complementary mechanisms.
