LV-SMENP Vaccine is an investigational cell-based gene therapy vaccine developed for the prophylaxis of COVID-19. It consists of dendritic cells (DCs) that are genetically modified using a lentiviral vector to express synthetic minigenes derived from selected domains of SARS-CoV-2 viral proteins, along with immune modulatory genes. The vaccine is designed to activate antigen-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs), thereby inducing a targeted cellular immune response against SARS-CoV-2. Administration involves both the modified dendritic cells and activated CTLs. The developer is Shenzhen Geno-Immune Medical Institute, and as of 2020–2021, it has been in early-phase clinical trials for COVID-19 prevention[1][2][3][4][5][7][8].
