Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LVRNA001 (human rabies mRNA vaccine) is an investigational, non-replicating mRNA-based vaccine developed by AIM Vaccine (through its subsidiary Lifanda Biotech) for the prevention and post-exposure prophylaxis of rabies. The vaccine consists of lipid nanoparticle (LNP)-encapsulated mRNA encoding the rabies virus glycoprotein (RABV-G) of the CTN-1 strain. Preclinical studies in mice, dogs, and non-human primates have demonstrated that a two-dose regimen of LVRNA001 induces rapid, high-titer virus-neutralizing antibodies and robust Th1-biased cellular immune responses, providing 100% protective efficacy against lethal rabies virus challenge. In June 2023, the Center for Drug Evaluation (CDE) of China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) accepted the clinical trial application for the vaccine, making it the first clinical-stage mRNA rabies vaccine candidate in China.
