LVRNA009 is an mRNA-based vaccine candidate developed for the prevention of COVID-19, caused by SARS-CoV-2. It encodes the spike (S) protein of the original Wuhan-Hu-1 strain of SARS-CoV-2 and is delivered using a lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulation. Clinical trials in China have demonstrated that LVRNA009 induces strong humoral and cellular immune responses, including robust production of binding and neutralizing antibodies as well as T-cell responses characterized by IFN-γ secretion. The vaccine has shown good safety and tolerability profiles in phase I and II clinical trials at multiple dose levels (25, 50, 100 μg), with no serious adverse events reported. Immunogenicity data indicate high titers of neutralizing antibodies against both the original virus strain and variants such as Omicron following primary vaccination and booster doses. The vaccine is being developed by AIM Vaccine, with clinical studies also involving Liverna.
