LX1020

LX1020 is an investigational gene therapy being developed for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease in patients who are homozygous for the APOE4 allele. The therapy is designed to deliver both a protective APOE2 allele and a microRNA (miRNA) to suppress expression of the pathogenic APOE4 allele. This dual approach aims to convert patients’ genetic profile from high-risk APOE4/E4 to a more protective APOE2/E4 state, potentially reducing amyloid pathology and slowing or preventing disease progression. LX1020 is currently in preclinical or early development stages, with its mechanism focused on modifying apolipoprotein E (APOE) expression as a disease-modifying strategy for Alzheimer’s disease[1][2].
