Overview

LX111 is an adeno-associated virus (AAV)-based gene therapy being developed for the treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). Developed by Shanghai Langsheng Biotechnology (also known as Innostellar Biotherapeutics), the therapy is designed to deliver a therapeutic transgene to the retina via a single intravitreal (IVT) injection. The goal of LX111 is to provide long-lasting expression of therapeutic proteins, thereby reducing the treatment burden associated with frequent intravitreal injections of standard anti-VEGF therapies. It is currently being evaluated in early-phase clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and efficacy in patients with active choroidal neovascularization secondary to nAMD who have shown a meaningful response to prior anti-VEGF treatments.
