Overview

LX15002 is a small molecule inhibitor of the enzyme Arachidonate 15-lipoxygenase (ALOX15), developed by Loxagen. It is currently in Phase 1/2 clinical development for the treatment of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) and ischemic stroke. The drug's mechanism of action involves the targeted inhibition of ALOX15, which is a key mediator of lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis—a form of regulated cell death that contributes significantly to neuronal damage and secondary brain injury following acute cerebrovascular events. By blocking this pathway, LX15002 aims to provide neuroprotection and improve clinical outcomes in patients suffering from hemorrhagic or ischemic stroke. The candidate is being evaluated in both intravenous and oral formulations for various neurovascular and neurodegenerative indications.
