LXM.5

**LXM.5** is Laxxon Medical's preclinical, orally administered fixed-dose carbidopa + levodopa tablet for Parkinson's disease. Manufactured using the company's SPID 3D screen-printing technology, it spatially compartmentalizes the two active ingredients to release immediate-release carbidopa before extended-release levodopa, with a delayed-release polymer coating. The intended pharmacologic effect is to inhibit peripheral levodopa decarboxylation with carbidopa, thereby increasing levodopa delivery to the brain, where levodopa is converted to dopamine to relieve Parkinsonian motor symptoms. Laxxon has reported nonclinical pharmacokinetic studies, including pig studies of LXM.5-1 and LXM.5-2 prototype dosage forms, showing sequential release and improved levodopa exposure relative to conventional carbidopa/levodopa products.
