Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LXP103 is a novel small molecule curcumin derivative being developed by LaunXP Biomedical for the treatment of obesity and complex metabolic disorders. Originally licensed from China Medical University in Taiwan, LXP103 is designed as a systemic regulatory candidate that directly targets adipocyte metabolic pathways to promote lipolysis (fat breakdown). Unlike conventional weight-loss therapies that act on the central nervous system to suppress appetite, LXP103 works peripherally, offering a gentle and safe profile with a long half-life and favorable tissue distribution. In preclinical diet-induced obesity rat models, weekly subcutaneous administration of LXP103 demonstrated significant, durable weight reduction and lipid-lowering effects without causing a rebound effect upon treatment cessation. LaunXP Biomedical is conducting IND-enabling studies with plans to submit an IND application to the US FDA.
