Overview

LY2216684 + digoxin is a combination of two drugs with distinct mechanisms and indications. LY2216684 is an investigational selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor developed for major depressive disorder. Digoxin is a well-established cardiac glycoside used in the treatment of mild to moderate heart failure and in controlling ventricular response rate in chronic atrial fibrillation. LY2216684 increases norepinephrine concentrations in the synaptic cleft by blocking its reuptake, potentially improving depressive symptoms. Digoxin increases the force of myocardial contraction and decreases heart rate by inhibiting the Na-K ATPase enzyme, ultimately improving symptoms in heart failure and atrial fibrillation[1][3].
