LY3006072 is a small molecule agonist of the free fatty acid receptor 1 (FFAR1), also known as GPR40, which was developed by Eli Lilly and Company for the potential treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. GPR40 is a G protein-coupled receptor primarily expressed in pancreatic beta cells; its activation by long-chain fatty acids or synthetic agonists promotes insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner, thereby reducing the risk of hypoglycemia. LY3006072 was evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial (NCT02164305) to determine its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile in healthy volunteers. However, development of the compound appears to have been discontinued, as it is no longer listed in the company's active clinical pipeline.
