Overview

LY307161 is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist originally developed by Eli Lilly and Company and later licensed to Gastrotech Pharma (now Rose Pharma). As a GLP-1 analogue, it mimics the action of endogenous GLP-1, which inhibits gastrointestinal motility and gastric acid secretion. The compound was primarily investigated for the treatment of acute abdominal pain associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and functional dyspepsia, as well as for weight management in obesity. Clinical studies demonstrated its ability to inhibit the migrating motor complex and delay gastric emptying. A sustained-release formulation, LY307161 SR, was also developed for once-daily administration. While it reached Phase 2 clinical trials, development appears to have been discontinued.
