Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LY3113593 is a human monoclonal antibody developed by Eli Lilly that targets bone morphogenetic protein 6 (BMP6). By specifically blocking BMP6 from binding to its receptor, LY3113593 inhibits the BMP-SMAD signaling pathway, resulting in reduced hepcidin production. This leads to increased serum iron and transferrin saturation and decreased ferritin levels. The drug was investigated for the treatment of anemia, particularly anemia associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD), where it demonstrated increases in hemoglobin and improvements in iron parameters compared to placebo. Clinical development reached phase II before being discontinued.
