Overview

LY3493269 is a dual agonist peptide targeting both the gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP) receptor and the glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor. It was developed by Eli Lilly for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The drug acts as an incretin mimetic, aiming to improve glycemic control by stimulating insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner and reducing glucagon secretion after meals. Both subcutaneous and oral formulations were investigated to enhance patient convenience and adherence. Clinical trials focused on evaluating safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics in healthy participants and those with type 2 diabetes[6][7]. As of early 2025, development has been discontinued following termination of phase I studies[2][3].
