Overview

LY4174794 is a long-acting amylin receptor agonist currently under development by Eli Lilly and Company for the treatment of obesity and overweight. Amylin is a peptide hormone co-secreted with insulin from pancreatic beta cells that plays a critical role in glycemic control and energy homeostasis. By mimicking the action of endogenous amylin, LY4174794 targets receptors in the area postrema of the hindbrain to promote satiety, slow gastric emptying, and reduce overall food intake. The drug is being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics following both subcutaneous and intravenous administration in otherwise healthy participants with elevated body mass index.
