LY4268989, also known as MORF-057, is a **selective oral small molecule inhibitor of the integrin α4β7**. It is being developed for the treatment of **inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD)**, including **ulcerative colitis** and **Crohn’s disease**. The drug works by **blocking the interaction between α4β7 on lymphocytes and the mucosal endothelial ligand MAdCAM-1**, thus **reducing lymphocyte migration into intestinal tissues and decreasing intestinal inflammation** associated with IBD. This mechanism is clinically validated by the success of biologic inhibitors of the same pathway, such as the approved antibody therapy vedolizumab.
