Overview

LY6K siRNA is a research-grade small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the Lymphocyte Antigen 6 Complex Locus K (LY6K) gene. LY6K is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored protein that is frequently overexpressed in various malignancies, including cervical, lung, and breast cancers, where it promotes cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. By targeting the LY6K mRNA transcript for degradation via the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, LY6K siRNA inhibits the production of the LY6K protein, thereby modulating downstream signaling pathways such as TGF-β and EGF. While widely used in preclinical oncology research to validate LY6K as a therapeutic target, LY6K siRNA is currently utilized as a laboratory tool rather than a clinical-stage therapeutic candidate.
