Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**LY900027** is an investigational fixed-dose, pump-administered formulation of the rapid-acting insulin analogue insulin lispro and the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug meloxicam. It was developed by Eli Lilly for type 1 diabetes mellitus in people using continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion. Insulin lispro activates the insulin receptor to promote peripheral glucose uptake and suppress hepatic glucose production, while meloxicam preferentially inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 and was incorporated into the formulation for evaluation of its effects on insulin lispro pharmacokinetics and glucodynamics during prolonged infusion-site use. A completed randomized crossover Phase 1 study evaluated LY900027 against insulin lispro alone in adults with type 1 diabetes using insulin pumps.
