Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LYB027 + A02 is an investigational multi-stage, dual-species recombinant malaria vaccine candidate developed by Patronus Biotech, a subsidiary of Luye Life Sciences Group. The vaccine is formulated with Patronus Biotech's proprietary A02 adjuvant, a novel liposomal adjuvant containing fully synthetic active ingredients—specifically synthetic QS-21-Api and hexa-acyl monophosphoryl lipid A (HMLA)—designed to enhance both humoral and cellular immune responses. LYB027 is built on the company's proprietary Universal Virus-Like Particle (U-VLP®) technology platform. Unlike traditional malaria vaccines (such as RTS,S/AS01 and R21/Matrix-M) that target only a single pre-erythrocytic stage of *Plasmodium falciparum*, LYB027 is designed as a multi-stage, dual-species vaccine. It simultaneously targets three key life-cycle stages (pre-erythrocytic/liver stage, blood stage, and transmission/sexual stage) of both *Plasmodium falciparum* and *Plasmodium vivax*. This comprehensive approach aims to prevent infection, disease, and transmission of the two most prevalent malaria-causing parasites. In October 2026, the Bellberry Human Research Ethics Committee in Australia approved a Phase I first-in-human clinical trial (NCT07831226) to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of LYB027 + A02 in healthy adult volunteers.
