Lybrido

Lybrido is a fixed-dose combination product consisting of testosterone and sildenafil, developed by Emotional Brain for the treatment of Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD) in women. It is specifically designed for a sub-population of women whose HSDD is characterized by low sensitivity to sexual cues. The medication is formulated as a dual-release sublingual tablet; it features an outer coating of testosterone for immediate release and a delayed-release inner core of sildenafil. The testosterone component is intended to increase sexual motivation and desire by acting on androgen receptors in the brain's reward system, while sildenafil, a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor, enhances peripheral genital arousal by increasing blood flow. This synchronized delivery is timed so that the peak physiological effect of sildenafil coincides with the peak behavioral effect of testosterone, typically occurring 3 to 6 hours after administration.
