Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lybridos is an investigational combination drug developed by Emotional Brain (EB FSD) for the treatment of Female Sexual Dysfunction (FSD), specifically targeting women whose condition is characterized by an overactive sexual inhibition system. The formulation consists of a combination of testosterone and buspirone. Testosterone is included to enhance sexual motivation and sensitivity to sexual cues by acting as an androgen receptor agonist. Buspirone, a 5-HT1A receptor partial agonist, is intended to reduce the activity of the brain's sexual inhibition pathways. The drug is designed for 'on-demand' oral administration, typically taken several hours before anticipated sexual activity. It is distinct from Emotional Brain's other candidate, Lybrido, which combines testosterone with sildenafil for women with low sensitivity to sexual stimuli. Lybridos has undergone Phase 2 clinical testing and has received patent protection in multiple global markets.
