Overview

LYG-LIV-001 is an allogeneic cell therapy developed by LyGenesis for the treatment of end-stage liver disease (ESLD). The therapy involves the transplantation of donor hepatocytes into a patient's periduodenal lymph nodes using a minimally invasive endoscopic ultrasound procedure. The lymph nodes serve as natural bioreactors, providing the necessary environment for the hepatocytes to engraft, proliferate, and organize into functioning ectopic liver tissue. This approach aims to provide supplemental liver function, potentially addressing the shortage of donor organs by allowing one donated liver to treat multiple patients. The program is currently in Phase 2a clinical development.
