lymphocyte t-cell immunomodulator

Lymphocyte T-cell immunomodulator (LTCI) is a biologic immunotherapeutic agent developed by T-Cyte Therapeutics for veterinary use. It is a 50 kDa single-chain polypeptide glycoprotein extracted from bovine thymic stromal epithelial cells. LTCI functions as an immune regulator by stimulating the maturation of progenitor CD4+ T-cells and enhancing the production of cytokines, specifically interleukin-2 (IL-2) and interferon-gamma. This cytokine production subsequently activates CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes, which are essential for clearing viral infections and managing chronic inflammation. The drug is conditionally approved by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for the treatment of cats infected with Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), and it is also indicated for the treatment of osteoarthritis in dogs.
