Overview
Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell that are a key component of the immune system, responsible for adaptive immunity. In the provided context, "LC" refers to lymphocytes that are coupled with Glypican-3 (GPC3) to form the LC/GPC3+ complex. This complex is being investigated as a novel vaccine for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The LC/GPC3+ complex aims to elicit GPC3-specific antibody and cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) responses, which effectively restrict proliferation and lyse GPC3-positive cultured-HCC cells, leading to durable tumor regression in preclinical models. The administration of LC/GPC3+ induces elevated levels of cytotoxic T cell bioactive factors and increases the number of infiltrating CD8+ T cells in tumor tissues.
