Lymphoglobuline is a biologic immunosuppressant consisting of equine anti-human thymocyte immunoglobulin. It is produced by immunizing horses with human thymocytes and extracting the gamma globulin fraction from their serum. The drug works by depleting and modulating T lymphocytes, which are central to the immune response in transplant rejection and autoimmune bone marrow failure. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe aplastic anemia and is also utilized in the prevention of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) during bone marrow transplantation and the management of acute renal allograft rejection. Developed and marketed by companies such as Sanofi and Genzyme, it belongs to the class of equine anti-thymocyte globulins (eATG), which are distinct from rabbit-derived versions in their immunogenicity and clinical profile.
