Overview
LYN-014 is a once-weekly oral formulation of levomethadone being developed by Lyndra Therapeutics for the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD). The drug utilizes Lyndra's proprietary gastric resident delivery platform, which is designed to remain in the stomach for an extended period, providing sustained release of the medication over seven days. Levomethadone, the R-(-)-enantiomer of methadone, acts as a mu-opioid receptor agonist, which helps to reduce opioid cravings and withdrawal symptoms. By transitioning from daily to weekly dosing, LYN-014 aims to improve medication adherence, reduce the logistical burden of daily clinic visits for patients, and potentially improve long-term clinical outcomes. The development of LYN-014 has been supported by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) through the NIH HEAL Initiative.
