Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LYN-163 is an investigational ultra–long-acting oral biweekly formulation of ivermectin developed using Lyndra Therapeutics’ LYNX long-acting oral drug delivery platform to enable sustained systemic exposure of ivermectin for approximately two weeks after a single oral dose as a community-level malaria transmission–reduction tool.[2][5][7][10][13][17][20] The capsule contains extended-release ivermectin designed to deliver a steady plasma concentration sufficient to kill malaria-carrying mosquitoes that ingest treated human blood, aligning with WHO’s call to evaluate ivermectin as a complementary vector-control strategy for malaria eradication in endemic regions.[2][5][7][10][13][17][20] LYN-163 is being evaluated in early phase 1, single ascending dose studies in healthy volunteers to characterize safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of 28–56 mg ivermectin long-acting oral capsules.[1][5][6][8][9][15][18]
