Overview

This is a lyophilized (freeze-dried) Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) conjugate vaccine being developed by CanSino Biologics. The vaccine is a biologic designed to prevent invasive diseases caused by *Haemophilus influenzae* type b bacteria, such as meningitis and pneumonia. As a conjugate vaccine, it works by chemically linking the bacterial polysaccharide capsule to a carrier protein, which enhances the immune response, particularly in infants and young children whose immune systems do not respond effectively to plain polysaccharide vaccines. The vaccine is currently in Phase I clinical trials to evaluate its safety and immunogenicity in healthy participants aged 2 months to 59 years. CanSino is also developing this Hib component as part of a broader pentavalent combination vaccine (DTcP-Hib-MCV4).
