The lyophilized human rabies vaccine (Vero cell), also known as the freeze-dried human rabies vaccine (Vero cell), is an approved inactivated vaccine developed by AIM Kanghuai Biopharmaceutical, a subsidiary of AIM Vaccine. Produced using Vero cells, the vaccine is formulated in a lyophilized (freeze-dried) form to improve stability during storage and transportation compared to earlier liquid formulations. Its active ingredient consists of inactivated rabies virus antigens, which work by inducing protective immunity against rabies virus antigens in the recipient. The vaccine is indicated for the prevention of rabies and has been evaluated under both the Essen (5-dose) and Zagreb (4-dose, 2-1-1) vaccination regimens in clinical trials involving healthy participants aged 10–60 years in China.
