Overview

LYR-201 is a bioresorbable, drug-eluting sinus matrix designed for the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) in patients who have previously undergone sinus surgery (post-ethmoidectomy). Developed by Lyra Therapeutics using the proprietary XTreo platform, the device consists of a flexible, mesh-like scaffold that is implanted into the ethmoid sinus during an in-office procedure. Once in place, it provides a sustained, local release of the potent corticosteroid mometasone furoate directly to the sinonasal mucosa for up to six months. Mometasone furoate acts as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist, exerting strong anti-inflammatory effects that reduce mucosal swelling and improve sinonasal symptoms. LYR-201 is specifically engineered to fit the enlarged sinus cavities of post-surgical patients, aiming to provide a long-term therapeutic alternative to daily nasal sprays or repeat surgical interventions.
