Overview

LYSG-102 is a bacteriophage-derived lysin (endolysin) being developed by Lysigen Biotechnology for the treatment of acne. It is a recombinant enzyme designed to specifically target and rapidly lyse *Cutibacterium acnes* by degrading the peptidoglycan layer of the bacterial cell wall. Unlike traditional antibiotics, lysins offer a high degree of specificity, potentially sparing the commensal skin microbiota and reducing the risk of developing bacterial resistance. LYSG-102 is currently in the preclinical stage of development, with the company targeting an Investigational New Drug (IND) filing in the second quarter of 2025.
