LYSG-191 (StaphLyride) is a preclinical-stage bacteriophage-derived lysin enzyme being developed by Lysigen Biotechnology for the treatment of atopic dermatitis and eczema. The drug specifically targets *Staphylococcus aureus*, a pathogen that frequently colonizes the skin of patients with atopic dermatitis and contributes to inflammation and disease flares. LYSG-191 functions by enzymatically degrading the peptidoglycan layer of the *S. aureus* cell wall, resulting in rapid bacterial lysis. This targeted biologic approach aims to restore the skin microbiome balance and alleviate inflammatory symptoms without the use of traditional antibiotics, potentially avoiding the development of antimicrobial resistance.
