Overview

LYSG101 is an engineered lysin enzyme developed by Lysigen Biotechnology for the treatment of staphylococcal prosthetic joint infections (PJI). As a lysin, it functions as a highly specific antibacterial agent that targets and enzymatically degrades the peptidoglycan layer of the bacterial cell wall in Staphylococcus species, including Staphylococcus aureus. This mechanism leads to rapid osmotic lysis and death of the bacteria. LYSG101 is particularly aimed at addressing infections associated with biofilms on prosthetic implants, where traditional antibiotics often struggle to penetrate or remain effective.
