Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lysin for A. baumannii is a phage-encoded lysin biotherapeutic being developed by Techinvention Lifecare for the treatment of infections caused by multidrug-resistant *Acinetobacter baumannii*. As a lysin, the drug acts as a highly specific enzyme that targets and hydrolyzes the peptidoglycan layer within the bacterial cell wall. This enzymatic degradation leads to the rapid osmotic lysis and death of the target pathogen. The program is currently in the preclinical stage of development and is part of a broader pipeline of lysin-based therapies aimed at addressing the global challenge of antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
