Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lysin for K. pneumoniae is a preclinical-stage phage-encoded lysin biotherapeutic being developed by Techinvention Lifecare for the treatment of antimicrobial-resistant (AMR) *Klebsiella pneumoniae* infections. The active ingredient is a phage-derived lysin enzyme designed to specifically target and enzymatically degrade the peptidoglycan layer within the bacterial cell wall. This degradation leads to osmotic instability, bacterial lysis, and rapid cell death. As a biotherapeutic modality, this lysin represents a targeted alternative or adjunct to traditional antibiotics, particularly for multidrug-resistant strains of *K. pneumoniae*. The candidate is currently in the preclinical development phase.
