Drug intelligence / Profile preview
`lysin seq 5` (also known as `lysin sequence 5` or `seq 5`) is a novel recombinant, prophage-encoded endolysin being developed by Techinvention Lifecare in collaboration with Acharya Narendra Dev College, University of Delhi. Discovered through in silico screening of E. coli prophages, lysin seq 5 features a lysozyme-like domain and exhibits a modular or globular structure. It is designed to target and degrade the peptidoglycan layer of the cell wall of Gram-negative bacteria, specifically uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC). In preclinical in vitro assays, lysin seq 5 demonstrated potent bactericidal and anti-biofilm activity against drug-resistant UPEC strains, both independently at higher concentrations and synergistically with outer membrane permeabilizers like EDTA at lower concentrations. It is currently in preclinical development for the treatment of urinary tract infections (UTIs).
